Pierre WAFFO-TEGUO

Dr. Pierre Waffo-Téguo is currently Full Professor in Natural Products Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, University of Bordeaux. He was educated in France and received degrees from the University of Bordeaux (Pharm D, 1995; M Sc in Biology and health, 1995; Ph D in Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1998). After his postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois at Chicago (1999-2000), he was appointed as Assistant Professor (2000-2002) then Associate Professor with tenure (2002-2005) at the University of Reims France. Since 2005 he has been Associate Professor of Natural Product Chemistry at the University of Bordeaux 2. He is working at Oenology research unit (EA 4577, USC 1366 INRA, IPB, Bordeaux, France) and his research activity is focused on the isolation and structure elucidation of polyphenols (stilbenoids) that are potentially bioactive. He also developed the methodology of centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC) for the purification of natural products.

He has authored or co-authored about 80 peer-reviewed research articles, review articles, and book chapters. Pr. Waffo-Téguo has been Major and/or Thesis Advisor to about 4 graduate students and has also directly supervised 5 postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars.
