Bordeaux airport (code BOD) is situated 12km (7.5 miles) west of central Bordeaux. Getting to and from Bordeaux airport:

  • Airport shuttle bus: You can reach Bordeaux city centre by taking Navette Shuttle 30’ Direct which operates every day from the airport to the train station (Gare de Bordeaux St. Jean).   • Local bus: Another possibility is by taking a local (and much cheaper!) bus line 1+ operated by TBM. The single bus fare costs 1.50€, 55 minutes to reach city center
  • Taxi services: If you don’t want to drag around your suitcases, there are taxis waiting for you outside the Arrivals Terminal. Make sure they have their taximeters on when you leave the airport so you don’t get overcharged. The average cost of the ride to Bordeaux is around 30€.
  • Renting a car at Bordeaux Airport: There are 10 companies in total which offer their services at the airport, all of them located at A-B Hall connecting wing. But if you want your car waiting for you when you arrive at the airport, then hurry up and book it online.

train By rail

France railways are operated by SNCF www.oui.sncf/Billets. Major cities are linked by TGV (high-speed train). Around two hours Paris-Bordeaux.

Urban buses and trams in Bordeaux and outskirts are run by TBM (www.infotbm.com) usually between 5am and 1am.

car Car

Free city parking is hard to find in central Bordeaux, and paying car park can be pricey. The historic centre of Bordeaux is pedestrian zone where driving is not permitted. Paid parking applies to the rest of the centre and the adjacent area on Monday-Saturday from 09:00-19:00. Maximum stay is 2 hour. Parking rate city centre is around € 2.50/hr (red zone), in the first adjacent area around € 1.80/hr (green zone). Parking on Sundays and Public Holidays is free of charge. Please be aware that traffic in the city centre of Bordeaux is forbidden on the first Sunday of every month from 10:00-19:00 in the summer.

Free or cheap city parking is easy to find near the conference venue and on the outskirts of the city.
