The University of Bordeaux ISVV is participating in a new Erasmus Mundus (EM) program on innovation in wine tourism.
In the framework of a Call for Proposals for a "Common Joint Master's Degree" in 2015, the European Commission selected the "WINTOUR" common Master's program delivered by three European universities combining tourism and oenology knowledge: University of Bordeaux - ISVV (Institute of Vine & Wine Science), University of Porto (Portugal) and University of Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain), which is also the program coordinator.
All three universities are situated in highly popular tourist regions, having been awarded the UNESCO global heritage label, and possess long winemaking traditions. The value added by this program resides in its vast network of private partners (11 in all), which have joined forces with the consortium and will host students on internships.
WINTOUR has consequently been awarded the Erasmus Mundus label and will receive funding for three graduating classes of students, starting in September 2016.
The call for applications will be launched in early 2016 for the recruitment of the first students, and the best applicants from Europe and worldwide will receive grants.
